Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In June last year I donned Lycra for the first time and completed the Blenheim Palace Triathlon to raise money for a great charity called Thinking Of Oscar. Having seen the good that the charity is doing and the people that they are helping I have decided to do it again. However, this time I will be upping the ante and competing in two; the Eton Dorney and Blenheim Palace Triathlon.
Thinking Of Oscar aims to support and help sick children and their families during their time in hospital. The money raised will make a real difference through providing funding for the development of research into improved diagnostic techniques and technology or allowing patients access to support and activities to make their time in hospital as comfortable as possible.
The charity was set up after our good friends David and Hannah Cole lost their little boy Oscar whilst he was being treated for a routine infection. He was just sixteen months old. He contracted Rotavirus during his treatment, which in turn lead to Encephalitis, which is a very rare condition. No one imagined that he wouldn't make a full recovery. Oscar was a beautiful little boy with a smile that lit up any room, his loss has been devastating for family and friends and has had a huge impact on our village community. What happened to David and Hannah could have happened to any family, but their reaction to such a horrific situation has been truly inspiring.

Once again it will be an honour to crow bar myself into the wet suit, embrace the Lycra and grimace through the saddle sore.
