In Sep 2013 I will be taking part in a bike ride from Wellington Barracks in London to the battlefield of Waterloo - some 250 miles over three days. I will be riding with another 299 riders to raise money for 'The Colonel's Fund'. This fund has raised money over the last 4 years to support the families of those Grenadiers killed in action and those who have been seriously injured. To put this into perspective the Grenadier Guards (my old regiment) returned from its most recent tour in Afghanistan having had 5 Guardsmen killed in action and 46 battle casualties of which 11 were amputees. The money raised will go to support Grenadiers and their families.

9 Feb went to Exeter ' Bikeshed' to look at new road bikes .......yes thought probably need one of those! Amazing technology now days!! Went for test ride on a couple ....and whilst testing one down road in Exeter was shouted at by passer by " hey old man .......got a new bike then"!!!! ......am I too old to be doing this??.....surely not!!

18 Aug - Miles coming a little bit easier now .....23 covered across Dartmoor today ....dam those hills! Average 12 miles an hour - hope this will be faster on the flat ....
