Story
I am riding the distance from London England to Kabul Afghanistan, thats a bumb numbing 3600 miles. Why? I hear you shout, its simple and I shall now explain.
To support all our service personnel by raising as much as possible for the worthy Help 4 Heroes charity.
I served for 10 years in the Army (having only just left August 2009) and still have numerous good friends serving and deploying, these friends arent just from the Army, but are also Navy and RAF personnel. This is my hommage to them, so that they can deploy with the knowledge that we are behind them and should anything go wrong (god forbid) that there is support to help them.
How many people know exactly what H4H actually does? I could rant on about their good work, I'm not going to, I will let you decide. Please visit their website particularly this page http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/how_we_spend.html which gives a better idea of where your money will be going.
Now about my trip. I am departing on Fri 28th May 2010 on my journey, I shall be riding my motorbike through 10 countries England, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, back through France to England with my finish point being The National Arboretum where I will pay my respects and lay a reef hopefully containing a poppy that has made the voyage with me.
This is the first journey I have undertaken of this magnitude, I am riding solo with no support team what so ever I have given myself 2 weeks to complete, which means (allowing for a few days in case I miss the ferry from Greece) I have to average at least 400 miles a day! This is ok through the likes of Germany, not so good for Romania. I am funding this trip out of my own pocket, using my own bike and all my own equipment, so basically what you donate is what H4H gets
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Since you have read down this far you may as well support me but more importantly we must keep supporting our guys and gals stepping up to the mark and risking all.
So please dig deep and donate now.
