Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro · 22 February 2010

Amani Children's Home rescues street children from malnutrition, homelessness and abuse at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. We are committed to providing a safe place for children to heal, grow and learn. Providing your contact details allows us to say thank you!

Story

Hi guys...with your help I'm looking to raise lots of money for Amani.

See video clip (on the left) and website - http://amanikids.org/

It's an amazing organisation that rescues children from the awful perils of life on the streets  and then provides them with a bed, security, medical care, nutritional food, education...but most importantly...the love, care and attention that was so missing from their lives. Amani gives these children a chance at a better life. A life with hope.

And I hope you find the climbing of Kilimanjaro a worthy challenge for a worthy cause.

(To all you donors...leaving your address will ensure you receive a nice letter all the way from Africa with a kid's drawing/photo. A welcome relief from the bills and junk mail we normally get through our letterbox each morning!).

Why do I want to do this?
Well...I've been working out here in Africa for 6 months now and each (clear) day I look up at this beautiful mountain before me. And blessed as I am to be graced with her splendour, I truly feel the mountain keeps winking at me; goading me with her cheeky, wry taunts.

“Climb me”...she says, “climb me if you’re man enough! Mount my summit and touch my peaks”.

Now before this turns into some pseudo-erotic Mills & Boon-style love encounter, I thought I would let you know that I’ve decided to cave-in to the mistresses’ commands and climb the bloody thing!!

Considering I mangled the ligaments in my ankle a couple of months ago, this is probably against all better judgment.

But hey-ho...we only live once.

If you feel you could give a little...it would mean a whole lot.

Thank you.
Hips.
