We exist to positively impact the lives of young people facing the challenges of inequality. We work across the UK and beyond to provide inclusive and impactful cricket programmes, empowering young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged communities.

Story

Graham Gooch, England’s leading test run scorer, scored 8,900 runs in his career. At 22 yards a run, that is 111.25 miles – which, as it happens, is the distance from Edgbaston in Birmingham to The Oval in London.

This Ashes summer, Grahame, Nic, Kevin and Grahamwill be making this walk to raise funds for The Lords Taverners and the Amyloidosis Research Fund at UCL. We will be joined along the way by Mark, who will be walking 65 miles, or 5,200 runs – the equivalent of Sir Ian Botham’s career.

We are doing this in memory of our dear friend, and avid cricket lover, Steve Baldwin, who sadly passed away in 2011 after contracting the rare disease of Amyloidosis. We are aiming to finish our walk on the morning of Wednesday 21st August – just in time for the start of the final Ashes test match at The Oval.

None of us are as young as we were, but we hope to complete this challenge in 7 days or so, sporting pristine cricket whites and magnificent Gooch style moustache’s.

Every day we will be marking the career of each and every England test player as we pass their run aggregate on the way to completing the “full Goochie”.

Please donate what you can through either or both of our JustGiving pages (one for each charity). Thank you for your kind support.
