Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Friday 8th May, I will be starting to cycle from Reading to Bristol, following the route of the Kennet & Avon canal with four friends. This is just over 100 miles, and we are going to break it up into three days, in doing this I am hoping to raise awareness for Neurobalstoma, and also to raise vital funds for a very special little Girl, Ruby who is facing the biggest challenge of her little life.

Ruby lives locally to me in Rainham, the community is getting behind her, here is her story, and the reason that I am raising money for her journey......

Ruby Laura is a very brave 2 year old little girl who lives in Rainham, Kent. She lives with her mummy, daddy and big brother Freddy. Ruby’s favorite things are babies, drawing, playing with her brothers toys, playing outside.
Ruby has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma. Ruby has a large
tumour starting in her abdomen going up her spine. Ruby has already undergone surgery in the form of a biopsy, and is currently undergoing treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Neuroblastoma is a very aggressive form of cancer with a poor prognosis and a very high risk of relapse.
Should Ruby relapse the treatment in the UK is limited and the chance of Ruby surviving is pretty much nonexistent. There are new developments for relapsed Neuroblastoma patients in America that would increase Ruby's chance of survival. The NHS would not cover the cost of these treatments and therefore we are asking for your help.
Treatment abroad is very expensive and could cost hundreds of thousands of pounds. We need your help to raise funds to potentially save Ruby's life!

Ruby really is one of the bravest little girls I’ve seen, somehow throughout all of this she manages to raise a smile, reading some of the posts that Vikki, Anita and Nanny Carrot put up, there are a lot of times where she is really poorly with the treatment she is undergoing, but she has amazing character and bounces back. So this is my way of not only helping Ruby, but also Vikki, Rob and Freddy by raising funds for their beautiful little girl, as a parent myself, I would like to think that in the event of something similar happing in my family that everyone would rally around and show us that we were not alone.

So… I’m asking PLEASE, if you can donate as much or as little as you can to help Ruby Laura. I really do appreciate everyone’s support, I am riding 100 miles to help a very poorly little girl, but she is the one who has the biggest journey ahead of her.
