The Pink Ribbon Foundation is a grant making trust, its mission is to fund projects and provide impartial financial support to breast cancer charities. We have very little infrastructure in order to ensure that all of the charities that benefit from the work of the Foundation receive maximum gain.

Story

'The Pink Ribbon Foundation' is a grant making trust with a mission to fund projects and provide financial support to UK charities who relieve the needs of people who are suffering from, or who have been affected by breast cancer. The Foundation also aims to advance the understanding of breast cancer, it's early detection and treatment.

This charity is of particular importance to me for another reason; on the 18th of February 2008, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Prior to this i had obviously known some people with cancer and had heard second-hand what those individuals and their families' go through, but never had any idea of what its really like! However, in the following months, my mum underwent a series of different treatments; 2 operations, 5 months of Chemotherapy and 6 weeks of Radiotherapy. These treatments had huge physical and emotional effects on both my mum and the family as a whole and i think it is fair to say that this was the hardest time any of us had ever experienced. Thankfully, i am pleased to say that on the 18th of November of the same year, my mum's treatment ended and she was given the all-clear. Despite everyone being overwhelmingly relieved and happy that the ordeal was over, our lives continued to be affected by what had happened and it took an awful lot longer for everyone to recover from the huge impact it had on our lives. Although we were lucky, there are huge numbers of families who have lost loved ones due to this and many other forms of cancer.

For this reason I have decided to give my best shot at raising as much money as possible to help the charity with the brilliant work that they do. I have decided to set my target high and am going to climb the highest mountain in africa, Mount Kilamanjaro. At 19,341 feet above sea level this is no easy task and training has already begun! The trip is scheduled from the 8th - 19th of July, therefore i dont have an awful lot of time. So please give as much as you can afford - no matter how big or small - and help me to reach the £1000 target I've set that I know will help so many people affected daily by cancer.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
