Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

2011 is shaping up to be a busy year with a lot of miles to cover ahead of me!

Over the weekend of the 16th-18th of June I will be undertaking a daunting board paddle from Hartland Quay around the Eastern side of Lundy and back to Croyde beach to coincide with the popular GoldCoast Oceanfest. At 36miles it is my longest paddle to date and works out at roughly the same as 179 Eiffel Towers or 645 football pitches!!

In September I will attempt to become the first person ever to paddle across the Bristol Channel, from Porthcawl, Wales to Ilfracombe, England. Although this paddle comes in slightly shorter, at approximately 26 miles, it is set to be a real challenge across one of the most tidal waterways on the planet.
This paddle works out at around 114 Empire State Buildings and I will be trying to avoid ships of a similar size to that on the way!

Now, if you were thinking that two paddles was a little bit lazy, I have been given the opportunity to paddle the English Channel in July. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to paddle the Channel, so this was far to good an opportunity to pass up with a total ban on Channel crossings apparently imminent.

I get the feeling that I will be spending a lot of time with my trainer and physio this year!

As with my previous challenges I will be undertaking the paddles to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West. Please take the time to have a look at the amazing work that these guys do.
This year we are hoping to eclipse the £5000 that was raised last year with the Lundy swim.

If you would like to donate please watch this space, as a JustGiving link will be up in the next couple of days. Donations large and small are welcome, every little really does help! We rely a lot on word of mouth so please tell your friends!

Keep following the blog for updates on how my training is going and all the usual tidbits!

Many Thanks

Nick
