Participants: A cycle from Santiago over the Andes to Mendoza
on 5 October 2011
In December 2011, several people from different nations, and fitness levels, will spend three painful and beautiful days riding on bicycles from Santiago, Chile to Mendoza, Argentina, crossing from one side of the Andes to the other, over the course of three days.
This journey is approximately 380 kilometers long, starting at 600 meters, rising up to 3,900 meters and descending to Mendoza at 800 meters. The second day will require a mammoth 12 hour ride from the base of the Andes on the Chilean side, over the peak and through the border to Argentina.
