Story

(latest update)

Theoretically finished it all with three runs in three weekends - good thing as my shoes have fallen apart in the mud.

In total ran 84k (50 ish miles) in 8 events - great fun. Will be carrying on next year, but this is the end of the sponsored stuff

Elly doing ok, all treatment over, but still tired and weak etc

Thanks as always for the splendid support

Hello

Elly has been marvellous coping with her treatment for breast cancer. I wanted to do something that would in a small way share the pain. So I'm going on a few runs this year.

What I'm doing

'Bolt round the Holt' (Farnham, Surrey) - March 27th - Easy warm-up - 5k

'Canary wharf Jog' - British Heart Foundation - 10k. (June the somethingth)

Corporate Challenge (Battersea Park, London) - July 9th - warmup for below

'10th Anniversary British 10k run' (Regents Park, London) - July 11th - Nice sunny jog - 10k (9.35am)

- 'Hard as Snails' 10k x country (Guildford, harsh)

'Great South Run (Porstmouth)  - October 24th - hmm - 10 miles

'Charterhouse trail run' - 15k uphills around a school famous for its puplis love of sheep

'Loseley 10k'  - can see my house from this one

I don't really know how the giving bit works (ie whether to sponsor per race, per mile or for the whole thing) - up to you I guess when and what (I have no overall target)

Blurb on who I'm running for

From the website: (http://www.fountaincentre.org/)

"The Fountain Centre is a charity based in the St Luke's Cancer Centre at Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford that supports people living with cancer. It is a warm and safe place where they and their loved ones can meet other people in their situation, explore therapies, develop strengths and grow an understanding of how to take control of their future. "

"The Fountain Centre is an oasis of calm, a haven of  peace. It's a place where people living with cancer get to meet others in the same position, with the same hopes and fears, to share their stories and experiences, to support one another and try new  therapies and activities together. "I get treated as a person not an illness here..."  "

On a personal note, despite my witty comments about the medicinal use of complimentary therapies, the centre has been a fantastic support to Elly - giving her time away from the kids, the husband and everything else. She always comes back positive and refreshed, and I am extremely grateful for the centre for the help it has provided us.

Elly has so far (I think) had 'LookGoodFeelGood', Raiki, Craniosacral therapy, massage, hairdressing/wig stuff and made extensive use of the library.

Treatments and therapies are initially provided free, and then at a nominal charge, and are open for all cancer sufferers treated in the Royal Surrey hosiptal. Therapists, carers and professionals provide their services free of charge, so it obviously needs some outside support to help keep the centre going.

Giving bit

I have no overall target, so would be grateful for anything really
