Facial Palsy UK supports people affected by facial palsy through information, support, promoting best practice, and advancing research. Our vision is a society where facial palsy is recognised and everyone affected can access the treatment, information, and support they need.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In June 2012 my wife Karen was diagnosed with a glomus jugular tumour.

The only treatment was surgery, which although it would remove the tumour would leave her deaf in her left ear and came with a number of other potential side-effects - one of which was the possibility of facial palsy/facial paralysis to some degree.

A journey of 1000 (or 26!) miles starts with a single step. My marathon 'first step' came when Karen and I attended a Facial Palsy UK support group after her surgery - I was so moved by the courage & kindness of the people we met  that I knew I had to do something to support them.
