Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon in Oct this year raising money for Cancer Research after losing my Dad to lung cancer. Cancer Research have offered me a Virgin London Marathon place to raise some more money in the fight against cancer.

My Grandfather, Bill Sparks DSM and Cockleshell Hero reinacted his famous suicide mission (I know he made it back) to raise money for Cancer Research after we lost Nanny Violet to cancer.

During WW2 he took part in Operation Frankton and he and Blondie Hasler made it back to the UK. The Special Boat Squadron was formed shortly afterwards and the raid became legendary and a Holywood film was made - Grandad being played by Anthony Newly.

Grandad himself sucummed to cancer in November of 2002 and so I am running the marathon in all of their memory and those others that have been affected by the disease.
