Bertie's Buccaneers
Campaign by Muscular Dystrophy UK (RCN 205395 (England and Wales) - SC039445 (Scotland))
Bertie's Buccaneers was set up to fundraise for research into Ullrich congenital muscular dystrophy which Bertie was diagnosed with in 2014.

Story

My son Oliver showed a maturity and unselfishness that can not be measured when, soon after his 5th birthday, he donated a large percentage of his birthday money to a classmate and his muscular dystrophy charity Berties Buccaneers.

It was the kind of generosity that makes you stand up and take notice.  Oliver has a full understanding of the value of money and the difference his generosity will make.  Since then I have set out in search of a challenge that will start to make Oliver as proud of me as I am of him.

A sprint triathlon feels appropriate as a test of mental and physical proportions that requires a great driving force to voluntarily agree to attempt.
