Can't get over how generous everyone has been! Awesome support for us and this great charity. Just been and raided Ellis Brigham for the last of my kit... Not impressed with how expensive this mountaineering lark is!!!

Hey All!

Over the summer, Vic and Nick are heading over to Tanzania to climb one of the most challenging and exciting mountains in the world; Mount Kilimanjaro.

In 2000, Nick spent several months in Ghana with the MAD Foundation, teaching, building schools and laying electricity pylons in a remote village called Shia in the Volta region.  Ten years later, its time to get back in the saddle and this time with his fabulous girly in tow!  Sadly they will not be taking Benson “hound with attitude” Sykes-Wells with them so babysitters – please apply!

Below are some more details on the MAD Foundation and if you’d like to hear how we’re getting on with the preparations, please visit our facebook page where Vic will no doubt be updating everyone on her blister count and Nick’s weight loss with the heavy training being undertaken…!!ear all,

This trip is being organized by John Lawler, founder of the Mottey African Development Foundation (http://www.madfoundation.org/), with whom Nick met in 1999.  Nick and Vic will be raising funds for the MAD Foundation for this trip however they are paying for the trip directly themselves so all your donated funds are going straight to John and his efforts to help rural development projects across Ghana, Thailand, Uganda and Tanzania.

The Mad (Mottey African Development) Foundation helps people in some of the world’s poorest countries to help themselves, by working with them at a grassroots level to develop much needed community resources.

By enabling sustainable projects and facilities, focusing on key areas such as education, child welfare, primary healthcare, health education and employment skills, the Mad Foundation supports indigenous communities in creating better opportunities and scope for further development.

Every penny raised by the Mad Foundation directly benefits communities in the developing world, with all monies going directly to community projects for the purchase of building materials and equipment. All our running costs are absorbed by a small number of key partners and by our trustees.

To date the Mad Foundation has helped build and renovate over 20 schools and pre-schools, built orphanages, clinics, workshops, water and sanitation systems, provided scholarships throughout Africa, South America, and South East Asia, life-changing projects which are not or can not be funded by government.

Thank you for visiting our page - it is much appreciated!
