Story

Since joining the Charity Committee I've been involved in Quizes, Cruises and long distance runs but for the end of this year I've learnt a few new words and phrases:

  • Cold shock
  • Hypothermia
  • Cramp
  • Heart attack
  • Asthma
  • Cold water urticaria

The fourth one is a slight worry and I actually had to look up the last one, it's a rash similar to hives apparently. Who knew you could actually be allergic to cold water.

But facing these terrible perils head on with nothing more than Victorian Swimwear and a smile, at 09:00 on Friday 9th December me and four fellow members of the Charity Committee are going for a winter dip in the Serpentine, Hyde Park.

All in the name of rasing money for Macmillian Cancer Support we're puting our sanity aside and hoping to finish off the year with a bang. So in front of friends, family and potential rescuers we'll give coldwater swimming in 10 degree water a go.

Macmillian Cancer Support are a great charity and with one in three people being diagnosed with Cancer in their lifetime they're there for support, care and advice during the most difficult of times.

Thank you for supporting me throughout this year in all of our fund raising activities, Macmillian really appreciate your generosity and we would love for you to help out with this years final event. If you can appreciate Victorian dress, cold water and people doing something very out of the ordinary, please dig deep one last time.
