Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Until recently I'd only ever run the Cancer Research UK Race for Life - 5km (roughly 3 miles) with many thousands of women supporting each other through shared pain.  It was hard but I did it - and last year I actually ran the whole thing for the first time without stopping!!!

This year I've decided it's time to do something different. This year I've decided to run further (a whole 10 miles further) for another cause that's close to my heart. Infertility.

Infertility is painful.  Infertility hurts.  But most of all infertility is lonely.

* People talk about cancer - no one talks about infertility.

* People share their grief about losing loved ones to cancer - people don't feel permitted to grieve when they experience infertility.

* People understand the pain of bereavement - they don't understand the pain of infertility.

* People rally round someone fighting cancer - people don't know how to help someone fighting infertility - often they don't even know they are fighting.

The Infertility Network UK is there to provide people with the support they need to cope with their fight, or to come to terms with living without children (moretolife) or even to cope with the mixed emotions of having children after infertility (ACeBabes).  But they also encourage greater openness - to stop infertility remaining a taboo by "Talking about Trying".

I was lucky - I found a wonderful support network online that helped me cope through the pain of infertility.  And I was open with friends and mostly found wonderful support there too. I want everyone to have that opportunity - that support that enables them to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

That's why I'm running the Half Marathon and that's why this year I've decided it's the Infertility Network UK that deserve my support. Please help me to help them.  If you can sponsor £1 for every mile further I'm running this year than last that will make a huge difference - but just imagine how many people you could help with £50...
