Fanconi Hope is a charity set up to sponsor research and support those affected by the rare genetic disorder Fanconi Anaemia that affects children and adults, leading to bone marrow failure and bone marrow transplantation, with very high risk of leukaemia and head and neck cancers.

Story

Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Saturday 16th October 2010 at the Wellington Park Hotel, Belfast, I will be doing six one minute rounds against six professional boxers- who include current European Champion Brian Magee, Current British Champion Martin Lindsay, Former Commonwealth Champion Martin Rogan, Carl Frampton, Jamie Conlon and Mr X ( a former World Champion).

MC and ring announcer for the evening will be Jackie Fullerton MBE from BBC Northern Ireland.

I am raising money for Fanconi Hope Charity. Fanconi Hope Charity is a Uk and Ireland based charity raising money to continue uk based research into fanconi anaemia and making advancements in treatments. Fanconi Anaemia is a genetic disorder, often involving numerous birth defects and leading to bone marrow failure with a very high risk of leukaemia in childhood. Fanconi Anaemia predisposes sufferers to cancers, particularly of the head and neck and the cancer causing fanconi pathway in the dna is relevant to us all. Research into this pathway will help cancer research and in particular cancers resistant to treatment.

Anyway, on a lighter note, nicky is willing to take a pounding in a ring to raise money for fanconi hope so that should definately be a great night out ;) good on you nicky, i can't quite believe you are going ahead with it!! you are a brave man! get a few punches in for hannah banana and wee brian who have their own fight on their hands.
