My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Wednesday 2nd May - He's done it!!!! Rob has cycled all the way from Land's End to John O'Groats and has raised all this money to help ensure that 17 young people from the Swindon Down's Syndrome Group can participate in this year's Salamander Fire Course. You're a real star, Rob. Thank you so much for going that extra mile (or 999 extra miles) for our young people. We are so grateful.

11.50am on the 28th April and Rob's sitting drinking coffee in the sunshine just outside Kendal. Very windy, though. Rob, you are an absolute star!! Thank you so much for all you're doing and in weather like this too!! Take care on the rest of your journey.

24th April - Rob spent his birthday cycling to Exeter. His computer recorded that he had cycled 9104 feet up throughout the day. His comment? "Bloomin' Cornish hills!!"

Rob Dentry started his intrepid cycle ride yesterday to raise funds for 17 of our young people to take part in the Salamander Fire Service Course in August.

He cycled to from Penzance to Land's End to be ready to start his journey to Tavistock. Here is his first message after cycling from Land's End to Tavistock.

"It chucked it down all day yesterday!! Bicycle. I want to ride my bicycle....!"

Obviously, still in good humour but John O'Groats must seem so very far away!!!.

To show your appreciation and encourage him to keep pedalling through the rain please make a donation on this page.

PCSO Rob Dentry is cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise money to fund this year's Salamander Fire Service Course for 16 - 18 young people with Down's syndrome.

We met Rob last year when he volunteered to help on the course. I don't know who's eyes were opened wider!! Rob brought fun and pranks to the course fitting in so well with a group of 12 - 24 year old young men who were there to learn fire fighting skills, team work, social skills and to have a great deal of fun with their friends.

Whether working or taking part on the course it has a major impact on all those involved. The young people continually astound us with their effort and achievements and entertain us with their love for the course, those running it and for life in general. The volunteers from fire fighters to police officers, carers to chef, all amaze us with their commitment to making the course what it needs to be for each individual.

This commitment lasts long after the course for many and Rob is showing that by pushing himself (and his bike - well, hopefully riding his bike) to the limit and raising money so that more young people with Down's syndrome in our area can benefit from such an amazing experience.

He will cycle around 100 miles per day and rest in youth hostels at night. Please show your support and appreciation by sponsoring him on this page.
