Story

Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page.

In May 2022, we are aiming to remember our good friend Ross Ballard who died in January 2019, leaving behind his wife Rachel and their two young boys. It was a shock to us all to have to say goodbye to someone we all loved dearly, and with whom we had shared so many incredible memories growing up together.

Ross was an incredible person, a beautiful spirit and someone who we will all miss enormously. His legacy lives on in a million little things and moments we will always remember.

You can help support vital research by sponsoring us in our Edinburgh Marathon endeavours. Your donation is really appreciated and the money will make a great difference to families and individuals in the future.

A little more about #TeamRoss

We are a group of friends who are running the Edinburgh Marathon/Relay on Sunday 29th May 2022.

Who's running? Nolan & Nicola Andrews, Mark & Kirsten McClelland, Andy & Charlotte Nixon, Neil & Joanne Keery, Ben & Laura Willis, Nico Fell, Allan Nelson, Simone Bett and we are delighted that Rachel Ballard will be running with us also.

The majority of the team will be running in the relay however Nolan & Charlotte will attempt to run the Marathon.

Why are we fundraising for www.braintimourresearch.org

Back in January 2019 we lost our very close & much loved friend, Ross Ballard, following diagnosis of a brain tumour in Feb 2016.

We all grew up with Ross in Holywood, Co Down and we remained very close throughout the years.

We miss Ross terribly and we wanted to come together and raise some much needed funds in his memory. We asked his wife, Rachel to nominate a charity.

Rachel has chosen www.braintumourresearch.org as during Ross's illness they felt that many of their questions couldn't be answered as research hadn't been completed & that a very small percentage of cancer research spend goes towards brain tumours.

Therefore as a group we are very motivated in raising as much money as we can in the fight against this awful disease. We really appreciate you reading our story and hopefully you are able to make a donation and help us  get a little closer to our fundraising target.

Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 25%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, too. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.

Thanks!!

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
