DEBRA is the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – a painful genetic skin blistering condition which, in the worst cases, can be fatal. We fund pioneering research and provide care and support to individuals and families living with EB.

DebRA  is the only national charity exclusively committed to the support and care of families affected by EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa) and increasing the quality of life of those with this condition.

The photo is a picture of a little girl name Maisy. Maisy has inherited EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa). he has skin as fragile as a butterfly wing. he sleeps almost totally bandaged to protect her skin.

When a child is born with EB the proteins that normally hold the skin together do not function. This means that outer skin and internal linings can be so fragile that any knock or rub, even a parents hug, can cause agonising blistering, tearing and permanent damage. Currently there is no cure.

Maisy's bandages are sometimes soaked away from her skin because of overnight blisters and the area of raw skin. Often a bath with special ointment soothes her skin and helps her relax.

Blisters that form overnight need to be lanced. Although painful, Maisy's mum knows that she must do this to prevent infection spreading causing her daughter even more pain. Mum cuts and shapes layers of dressings to protect Maisy for the day ahead.

Please sponsor me and help children like Maisy. Even the smallest donations add up and every bit will go to giving Maisy and others who live with this painful and dibilitating condition the chance of a life with out pain.

Thank you

Nicola
