Story
On the 13 July 2013, 1,000 walkers will be taking to the streets of Oxford in aid of the Sobell House Hospice at the annual Oxford Moonlight Stroll.
However for me, the evening will be an especially memorable one as I will also be celebrating my Hen Do.
My Hen Party and I will be walking the nine mile, night time route not only to celebrate my impending nuptials but also to commemorate my grandfather Bill Chiddington, who passed away at the hospice back in 1999.
The 13 July would have been My Grandad's 89th birthday. I felt this was a perfect way, not only to celebrate his life, but also to make sure he was involved in my wedding.
Little did I know that my best friend's were plotting an altogether more luxurious day of spas and champagne on the very same day! However, after a little arm twisting they have agreed to hit the city and fundraise with me, for the charity that provides care and support for families throughout Oxfordshire affected by terminal illness, instead.
Sobell House holds a special place in my heart as I have first hand experience of how invaluable their work is. Not only for patients, but also for their families. My Grandad passed with dignity and our family had all the support we needed, both during his illness and afterwards.
I know he will be looking down on me smiling, saying "Well Done My Duck" and thanking us all for giving something back.
