Lily suffered from a series of complicated heart defects. Cardiologists and surgeons were unable to fix her heart. When she was seven weeks old she was accepted for end of life care. This was to be provided through Rachel House in Kinross. The plan was that through the CHAS at home scheme we would receive a range of support at home. This would include emotional support, practical help and specialist nursing care. Unfortunately before she was able to utilise this Lily passed away. We were then able to accept the support by Rachel House in Kinross. One of the services provided by Rachel House is called the Rainbow room. This was a private room with a cold cot where Lily could be laid to rest rather than being taken straight to the funeral home. We were able to spend time with her before she went into her casket. We could not face being separated from our baby at this time and it would have been even more difficult spending this time at home. It was a huge help not having to worry about every day things for a few days. The staff were wonderful, we were well looked after and we received help and support in planning and organising the funeral.
The support of CHAS enabled us to deal with the death of our daughter with dignity and to honour her properly. For this we will always be grateful.
