A walk to raise money for M.E. · 13 September 2009

The ME Association campaigns hard to get ME recognised as a severe neurological illness. Our helpline provides essential information and support to adults and children who have ME/CFS, and to their families and carers. We also fund biomedical research into the physical nature and causes of ME/CFS.

M.E. is a horrible illness which can make you immobile for months and even years. Many people don't realise how nasty it is and so by raising money for the M.E. Association it will help make M.E./CFS a recognisable illness around the globe.

Because me and Rachel both experienced the ups and downs of having ME we decided we wanted to raise some money for the ME Association as they are seriously lacking in funds to do research into finding new treatments etc. Our families will be joining us as they have been very supportive throughout having and recovering frmo M.E. - but we would love more people to come along as well, but if you don't want to do it we would appreciate the sponsor!

Me and Rachel both had M.E. for a little over a year, even though this is a relatively short time it is still long enough to change your life and your outlook on it.

The NHS do not recognise this illness yet and so it is very difficult to get medical help for M.E. And so by raising enough money we hope it will be one small step towards helping M.E. being noticed by the NHS.
