Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!! Any donation will be greatly appreciated by both myself and the RSPCA.

With 15 RSPCA colleagues I will be trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro in Northern Tanzania (one of the highest mountains in the world at approx 19,340 feet...eek!) during the course of 6 days in Feb 2013 in order to raise both money and awareness for the RSPCA!

I have read that 40% of the people who attempt the trek fail to reach the summit and approx 8-9 people die each year trying...so to say I am a little worried (not to mention the malaria, altitude sickness, camping, exhaustion, collapsing, blisters..ahh!) would be a complete understatement but here goes!!! :)

Unfortunately recent reports and statistics have depicted a marked increase in the number of animal cruelty incidents year on year causing the RSPCA to reach absolute crisis point...and so with more animals to help and it costing more to do it, it is now that we need your help more than ever!

In 2011 alone animal cruelty incidents increased by 1/4, our call centre received 1.3 million calls which led to 159,000 complaints about animal welfare being investigated and 120,000 animals being collected/rescued!!!

At the RSPCA we not only prosecute people in court for committing animal cruelty but we also treat, house, rehome and rescue animals. We have specialist flood and boat teams, specialist wildlife centres and great mountain rescue teams.

I see first hand what an act of dispicable cruelty can do to an animal and in turn I am touched and have the pleasure of witnessing the kindness and care people can show to both their own animals and those they come into contact with. Please look on the blog and the photos below to see recent cases...

I know it is a hard time for everyone at the moment but please give what you can to this great cause!

£80,000 is what we hope to raise, please help us reach it!!!

Thank you!!!

You can also text donate (for £10 or below) please text code NJBR followed by the number amount e.g  NJBR £1    to 70070.

N.B We are NOT government funded nor do we receive funding from the national lottery and so rely completely on kind and generous donations from members of the public who want to do their bit to help!
