I want to help people like my late father 

My Dad William once beat lung cancer and lived cancer free for about 10 years before being diagnosed with leukaemia just before Christmas last year.

He was a true gentleman and handled his illness with such courage and dignity.  I 'll never forget the calm look on his face when the doctors apologetically told him that there was no more they could do for him.  He just thanked them for trying and passed away the very next day. 

Although he was 90 he was still a remarkably fit and active man. He was funny and charming and still had such a zest for life even at that age. 

So it was a huge shock to discover his cancer had returned .  His illness was mercifully short lived and he passed away 5 weeks later the day before New Years Eve.  

Other people are not so fortunate,   they have to go through so much more while trying to fight their own battles with such a horrible disease. This is why I want to do this ride for Research and raise as much money as possible for this cause.  

I am not a very confident rider although I do  love horses.  I  usually just ride up and down the fields where we keep our ponies or just potter down to the local pub and back.  But I want to make my Dad as proud of me as I am of him so with the support of my friends I want to set myself a bigger challenge and ride a lot further.
