Abseil Northampton Lift Tower · 21 May 2016

Every day of the year, your local air ambulance (Warwickshire & Northamptonshire) is helping save more lives. Our critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of five rescue missions a day. We receive no government funding for our daily missions. Your support keeps us flying.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Saturday 21st May 2016 I will be donning a helmet and safety harness and launching myself over the top of the National Lift Tower in Northampton, before abseiling 418 ft to the ground.

I am undertaking this little 'James Bond' moment in aid of the Air Ambulance Service, which is one of only two totally independent air rescue services in the UK.  They run our local air ambulance service here in Northamptonshire/Warwickshire, as well as the only dedicated Children's Air Ambulance in the UK, and they receive no government funding to do this.

The Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) flies at least 6 missions every day and is funded entirely through the generosity of members of the public.  I personally know four people who have been air lifted from road traffic accidents by the HEMS helicopter.  It could happen to anyone at any time and if you need critical emergency medical care the HEMS will get you to hospital on average 4 times faster than by road.  This could be the difference between life and death.

I'm doing something scary to raise awareness of this service, and I hope you will support my effort by donating whatever you can towards the work of this vital organisation.

Thank you! x
