<p>Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page - let me tell you our story.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">On the 26 December 2004 my husband Cornell and I were travelling to Liverpool to visit his Grandmother. We never made it. At approximately 10.30am on the M6 near Stoke a car drove into the back of our vehicle and when my husband got out of our vehicle to check on the wellbeing of the driver in the car behind us, another vehicle came up on the inside of our car and knocked Cornell down.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The impact left him unconscious, with a severely broken leg, a cracked vertebrae in his neck and a serious head injury.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The air ambulance crew that arrived at the scene undoubtedly saved his life; were it not for their fast response and intervention, <em><span style="font-style: normal;">the amazing paramedics on board that day and the pilot who flew and landed in icy conditions, I know our lives would have taken a different course.</span></em></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">As someone who has, unfortunately, experienced first-hand the remarkable professionalism of the Air Ambulance team, I would like to ask you to make even just a small donation to this amazing Charity. The Air Ambulance service does not receive any funding whatsoever from the Government; it&rsquo;s all from people like you and I who can see that these people really do make a massive difference to people&rsquo;s lives.&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The Air Ambulance doctors, supported by the paramedics, perform procedures and operations in the street which are normally only found in the hospital emergency department.&nbsp; Timing is of the essence for the types of injury that Hertfordshire&rsquo;s Air Ambulance attends.&nbsp; The patients have a critical one hour window in which to receive treatment to reduce disability or improve survival.&nbsp; This window is known as the &lsquo;golden hour&rsquo; and allows treatment of patients that may not even survive the distance to hospital.&nbsp;</p> <p>Life has taught me the value in having such an outstanding safety net and I hope that you can see the value in that too.</p> <p>Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
