Story

Hi there,

FINISHED!! IN 05:26:55

HUGE MASSIVE THANKS TO ALL WHO SPONSORED ME FOR THE HARDEST MOST GRUELLING DAY OF MY LIFE!! YOUR HELP WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE, AND IT CERTAINLY HELPED ME ROUND THOSE LAST FEW MILES!! YOU ARE ALL STARS TOO. THANK YOU.

Its not too late to sponsor me if you missed the race day date! This page stays open until 25th July, so if you can, please do donate!! Thanks!

First - thanks for dropping by my page! The fact that you have got this far means a lot to me! I am raising money for the Meningitis Research Foundation. They fund research into this killer disease, and also run a 24/7 hotline that people worried about symptoms etc can call for immediate advice etc. Obviously, this level of support doesn't come cheap, and that’s where you come in!! Anything you can spare will be welcomed with open arms! Here is what your money can go towards:

£1 100 symptoms cards

£5 1 school or university information pack

£10 1 hour of in-depth support

£25 1 hour of a typical research project

£100 20 information packs for GP surgeries and health professionals

£500 Funding the helpline for a full 24 hours

Why am I running for the MRF? Well, back in 1996, my best friend Josh very nearly died from it while at Uni. One minute he was doing the usual student things, and the next he was in a coma in intensive care. At that time, we where at separate Uni's, and I dashed across the country to be with him, fearing I would be too late.

Luckily, he pulled through, and this year I had the honour of being his Best Man at his wedding! It was a shock to me that this disease can affect a person so quickly and completely. Only quick action from his sister saved his life that day in 1996. It could have been a very different story.

So, please - dig deep and donate as much as you feel you can. Its in these economically uncertain times that charities like MRF need donations the most. Everything you donate will go toward beating this life changing disease.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
