Story

Hi there. I will be taking part in The Great London Swim on 26 May. This means swimming a mile in the revolting river Thames with thousands of other wet-suited, outdoor swimming specialists! This is despite my swimming experience to date being limited to picking my kids up from a sports centre, or at an extreme sitting in a shallow, junior pool whilst being 'hilariously' splashed by the same reprobates, and if really pushed to my limit, perhaps one length's gentle breaststroke in the slow lane over a 5 minute period.

So why? Well to raise money for charity, of course, and perhaps to give everyone a good laugh at my expense at the same time?! So if you are kind enough to sponsor me, then your funds will go directly to Seafarers UK. This is a charity that supports the welfare needs of serving and ex-seafarers during times of hardship, across the UK's Merchant Navy, fishing fleets, Royal Navy and Royal Marines, along with their families. I happen to work for this amazing charity, but it's also by means of a small nod to my late father and grandfather, both of whom served in the Royal Navy and fought for their country.

So if you could support me in this ridiculous endeavour, then you can donate directly to Seafafers UK via this Just giving page. Once you donate (completely securely), they'll send your money direct to the charity, making sure any gift aid is reclaimed.

I would be so increibly grateful if you could support me in this. Thank you so much!

Nigel x
