Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Approached by a fellow swimmer back in March 2016 I was given the opportunity to realise a long term dream of mine to swim the English Channel. I will be part of a 4 person relay team, consisting of an ex professional footballer, police officer, border control officer and myself as a paramedic.

Our team name is "Wingin it to France" which now seems quite apt as our training journey has been a colourful one so far. A year of hard training has ensued with many cold swims even on winter days, all without a wetsuit and on two occasions breaking the winter ice to swim, ice cuts, blue hands and early hypothermia have all been part of the package, along with sea swims, jelly fish and big waves. Last April I was rescued from the river Thames by two kind ex police officers in their boat as I became somewhat hypothermic and confused whilst swimming at Marlow. All this training is now paying off as a team, as we have all completed our cold water qualification swim and signed medically fit to swim.

Our allocation week is the first week in July, hoping for a calm conditions and sunshine!
