Story

Well don't all fall down with shock, but I am actually going to run the London 10k this year to raise money for Kidscape. There are many reasons for this, so if you want to know why, here are the facts:

1) I'm head of fundraising for Kidscape so I know exactly how much they need the money. I also spend every day asking people to give us money so thought that at least I'm doing my own little bit to contribute to our income sheet at the end of the year.

2) I've been on a bit of a health kick since last summer. I've lost 2½ stone so far and this is a great reason to keep on and get fitter. It's also completely out of my comfort zone - I'd be far happier if I could zumba my way round London but I don't think there's an event for that.

3) As my sister Emma and brother Paul have already both done this race for Kidscape in previous years, I really have to do it as well (anyone who knows us all will be aware that we are a competitive trio of siblings and, being the last one to do it, I know what time I need to get to beat them - although I have very little chance of beating Emma's time).

4) Most importantly, Kidscape is a fantastic charity and really needs support. Lots of you may have heard of Kidscape but might not know exactly what it does. I won't do my usual fundraising spiel here but just say that Kidscape has been working with bullied children for 28 years and changed thousands of lives for the better. Bullying affects millions of children every year and, sadly, can lead to suicide in the most severe cases. As a parent the thought that my boys might suffer at school makes me very sad, and I want to do my personal bit to try and help.

Those of you who know me well know that my job is more than just a job, and Kidscape means an awful lot to me. Please help me raise much-needed money to support Kidscape's work - it's got to be worth it to see me in Lycra!

I'll try and update my page so you can see how I'm getting on - I know 10k isn't very far but I really, really don't like running so it will be a big challenge for me. The last 10k race I did was 11 years ago and an awful lot has changed since then - surely it's worth a small donation?

Thank you very much for visiting my page. I love you all!
