Raising funds to aid research into Lafora Body Disease. Lafora disease is the severest form of human epilepsy. It afflicts previously healthy teenagers, initially with simple fits, then increasingly with prolonged fits that do not respond to medications.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Sometime between the 19th and 26th August 2012 I will be taking part in the largest and highest tandem skydive event ever held over Jersey. The purpose of the event is to raise funds through the Hope For John Charity for the Lafora Body Disease Research Fund, a fund established to aid the discovery of a cure for this devastating disease that a family friend tragically lost his life to in January of this year (www.hopeforjohn.org.je). Despite John’s tragic loss, fundraising must continue for all present and future sufferers and to ensure that John’s loss was not in vain. A dedicated team of researchers in Canada are very close to finding that cure but they need our financial support as there is no government funding from any jurisdiction in the world. So, if you like the thought of me jumping out of an airplane from between 13,500ft and 15,000ft (the four highest fundraisers from the 150 participants will get to jump from 15,000ft, a height never before jumped from in Jersey), bearing in mind I have never skydived before and am filled with nervous excitement (to put it nicely!), then please make a donation at my just giving page by clicking on the link below…

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
