Cots for Tots is the special care baby charity raising money to save and transform lives at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital Bristol, and Cots for Tots House, free 'home from home' accommodation for families of babies from Bristol, the South West, South Wales and beyond.

Story

My nephew Oliver was born on 4th August 2010 at St Michaels Hospital in Bristol.  He was what's called a 'gastro baby'. Gastroschisis is a birth defect in which a baby is born with some or all of his/her intestines on the outside of the abdomen.  When I first met him he was in an incubator in the special care baby unit with tubes everywhere, I cried.  My beautiful little nephew so tiny and so dependant on the help from the machines he was wired up too and the doctors and nurses at St Michaels Hospital.

Since having my little girl Gracie, as a mum I realise how brave my sister and her partner were as it's probably one of the worse times in your life seeing your child so helpless and poorly.

With the amazing help and support from the staff at St Michaels Special Care Baby Unit, Oliver has now grown to be an amazing little boy. He has a normal tummy and you wouldn’t even notice he was a gastro baby. He is into everything and causing havoc, just as it should be.

I am running to raise money to say thank you to all the staff at St Michaels for looking after my little nephew, they are all so amazing.

The 'Cots for Tots' appeal are raising funds for a new intensive care facility 'Cot on the Move'. This will enable consultants to transport special care babies to St Michael’s Hospital from all around the South West region for expert treatment and care.

So please help me raise some money for this amazing charity, and I will do my very best to make it past the finish line.

Thank you x
