Dear Sir/Madam
I wish to try to become 'The Youngest Boy to Walk to The North Pole' and also to raise awareness and funds for the WellChild Charity.
I have been invited to join Borge Ousland's Expedition to The Geographic North Pole which is to take place during April 2006. I will be 15 at the time of the Expedition.
After initially making contact with Borge Ousland, a Norwegian Explorer of world renowned, I was tested by one of Borge Ousland's associates for aptitude, strength and stamina in the Lofoten Islands above the Arctic Circle. Thereafter, I was invited to join the Expedition.
I am currently in Fourth Year at Hutchesons' Grammar School, Glasgow. To get to The North Pole, South Pole and to climb Everest have been ambitions of mine since I was only 6.
During the course of this Expedition, I will also be raising money for WellChild (www.wellchild.org.uk) and as their website says, WellChild is a fast growing charity which works hard to improve childrens' health through research into improved care information, support and education.
Donations supporting my efforts are, to date, in excess of the costs of getting there and accordingly, we are now well on our way to raising serious funds for the WellChild Charity. Total donations to date are £15,150.00 and I hope in the coming weeks to be able to raise the total to in excess of £25,000.00. As you can see, from donations to date we have not got far to go and would really appreciate donations of any amount, no matter how small, to the WellChild Charity.
