A devastating earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale struck Haiti last week causing an unfolding humanitarian crisis. Children have been killed and injured — many are in desperate need of clean water, shelter and medical help.

It is estimated that upto 200,000 poeple have been killed with many more hundred thousand people either injured or homeless.

The country has lost its infrastructure, clean water, transport links, and many medical facilities in the quake.
