Salaams to All,

As we all know, providing water to the poor is one of the best forms of Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous giving) and Islamic Help has set up numerous well projects in various countries including Mali, Niger and Sudan. Islamic Help has also constructed a model village in Bangladesh for those affected by Cyclone Sidr and this is home to numerous children and orphans.

Orphans have a unique place in Islam and share an affinity with Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who lost both his parents by the age of 6. This is expressed with great clarity in the sacred tradition (hadith). There is a promise of Paradise for anyone who looks after an Orphan:

“I, and the one who looks after an orphan, will be together like this in the next world”, then he raised his index and middle fingers together’’

This current project that I have undertaken combines both Sadaqah Jariyah and providing for orphans as we need to urgently raise £12000 to provide this model village with ten water pumps and wash facilities. This however can only be done with your help! The importance of charity is stated in the following hadith:

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity."
