Story
I've never had a loved one suffer with this ailment but I couldn't even imagine or understand what the whole family & loved one go through when this illness hits!
I don't have children of my own yet but have faced some upset trying. I'm a big believer on everything happens for a reason & things are sent to test us; making us a stronger person in the process. I could never dwell to long as there's always someone in the world in a worse situation than ourselves.
I couldn't imagine of having a child of my own but then to watch them having to suffer with this horrible illness so young and the emotions the parents have to deal with along the way.
So I'm doing this 84 mile walk of Hadrian's Wall (East coast to West coast) with my sister-in-law in aid of the "Neuroblastoma Children's Cancer Alliance Uk".
The Neuroblastoma Alliance UK helps families access and fundraise for their child's treatment abroad. Various new treatments for neuroblastoma are being trialled in the UK, but if children do not meet the criteria for a trial, or need treatment that is only available abroad, families have to pay for their child's treatment abroad.
The costs of treatment abroad vary from around £80,000 for treatment in Germany to more than £300,000 for treatment in the United States.
The charity has a number of appeals for children that are fundraising to receive treatment abroad. There's around 100 cases per year in the UK.
