WE DID IT!!!!

From a 6.15 am start to an 11pm finish, 3 peaks, 6 different tracks, a sunrise, a sunset, 26 miles and almost 4000 metres!! We conquered Snowdon in every way possible!

We have a busted knee, some sore feet, some stubbed toes. We needed vaseline, blister plasters, so much water, sun-cream and would NEVER have survived without Fitty's amazing spag bol, heated up and delivered after peak 2 by Beth.

We were joined on our walk by Rich, Pennie and Medlan - all 3 of whom boosted morale, and kept our walkers going - and we could not have done it withouth them. A big thank you to Gerald, our guide who broke a birthday date with his wife to conquer Snowdon with us!

BUT that's not all. ON top of all of this - we have made our challenge bigger and better!

A couple of day's before the event, Adam's hill-climbing leg broke and left hims with stitches. He was unable to join the walkers on the peak. Against all the odds - he set himself his own personal challenge! Could he walk the 26 mile route AROUND Snowdon in the same time it took the others to conquer it 3 times???

Well, apart from a fall, and some patching up of his stitches - Leachy covered 20.2 miles in addition to the peaks, and met some friends (cows) some buddies (sheep) and a bloke to give him 6 roll-ups along the way.

THank you for donating to our cause - at the time of completion of the challenge we had raised somwhere in the region of £3,850. We would like to get this up to at least £4,000 so if you haven't donated yet - please help us get there.

Cheers all - here's to helping the kids and a great cricket season!

IMPORTANT NEWS: CHALLENGE UPDATE

Unfortunately, due to bad weather in Scotland, Ben Nevis is not climbable in the next 10 days. For safety reasons, the challenge organisers cannot allow it to go ahead as it currently stands, and this now includes the possibility that Scafell could be unclimbable as well.

However, the team are ready for action, and your money has been donated. SO - we have come up with a challenge to match the 3 peaks.

The team are going to climb Snowdon from each up 3 of it's most challenging routes. Each route has been selected to climb the same (if not more) metres that Nevis and Scafell, and the team are going to try and do it in under 15 hours.

Here is our new challenge:

Start at Nant Gwynant.
Climb Watkin Path 1040m ascent, 6.4km - Red
Descend Llanberis Path 10m ascent, 7.8km - Blue
This is the "Scafell Pike" leg

Climb Snowdon Ranger Path, via "Telegraph Pass" and Moel Cynghorion 1180m
ascent, 209m descent, 10.2km - Green
Descend Miners Track 90m ascent, 800m descent, 6.6Km - Orange
This is the "Ben Nevis" leg

Climb PyG Track, 790m ascent, 80m descent, 5.3km - Purple
Descent Rhyd Ddu Path 10m ascent, 900m descent, 5.7km - Yellow.
This is the "Snowdon" leg.

That is over 3100m of ascent and 40km covered, which is very similar height
gain and more distance than the national Three Peaks!

Keep donating your cash - it;s all going to 2 great causes!

UPDATE: Training is going well, with a walk planned for Easter Monday. Our fundraising total is climbing slower than Leachy - so please dontate all you can to a very worthy cause!

OK - here's the deal - we are going to climb 3 mountains ...  in 24 hours... and one of us only has one leg!!!

WHY? Good question, and here's our answer:

OXCC struggles to raise money to support itself each year, and we would really like to contribute to the running of our club. Our ladies team need a coach to lift them from second in the league to promotion in 2010, and we'd love to build an extra pitch for our club.

So, on a night out in November, an esteemed colleague suggested we all try the 3 peaks - it's a challenge worthy of the funds it can raise, and we could make a real contribution to our club (other than our fantastic batting and bowling, obviously).

But it's not all about the cricket: We are pledging to make even MORE of a difference - instead of hogging all the money and simply raising money to play cricket - - we are donating 50% of everything we raise to SpecialEffect.

SpecialEffect is a local run charity who specialise in providing physically impaired children and adults with eye-controlled computers which will allow them not only to communicate, and gain some independence, but will also allow them to have fun, compete and play games - something we all take for granted! Have a look at the amazing work SpecialEffect do at www.specialeffect.org.uk.

We started our training this weekend, and are committing ourselves to raising £1,000 each.

But we can't do it without your help. So - get your wallets out and give a donation to a worthy cause - whether £10, £100, or even £1,000 - everything you give will be welcomed...

We'll update this page with training photos, blogs and information on how we are getting on - so keep in touch, and email this to as many people as you can - - -everything makes a difference.

Thanks in advance, you fabulous people:

Fitty, Emily, Harry, Leachy, Karen, Max, John and Beth.
