Story

Dad has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, my Uncles (his younger, twin brothers) both had it, one survived, the other sadly didn't - this page is in his memory, I hope it won't become for my father's memory too.

And last but no means least.. Mum has had Breast cancer twice.

I realise many of you will have come across this before in some family or friend context, and it is a sore subject for many, but I feel it's time in chucked my hat in the ring and instead of just chatting about "doing something" actually started kicking my arse into gear.

SO what's the plan?

A) London to St Tropez

B) Hill walking in the Black Mountains

C) Virgin London Marathon 2014

A) London- St Tropez Cycle Challenge.

London to St Tropez in 10 days
(well maybe 12, afterall a rest day might be quite nice/neccessary)

Who is going?

Me.
And..
Whoever wants to come along - the whole distance or 5km. However long or short the more the merrier. I promise I won't talk ALL the time.

Why do it? Good food, drink, (hopefully) weather, to raise money for a good cause and it should be a laugh. Do it for Fatchops!!

So let me know. Spread the word. And if anyone knows a man with a decent road bike... get in touch.

B) Hill walking in the Welsh Black Mountains

A band of 8 Young Officers and Officer Cadets will be attempting to undertake one of the British Army's toughest challenges: Exercise Long Reach. Every man and woman that commissions into the British Army must undertake Exercise Long Reach in their Junior Term at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

What is Long Reach?

65-80KM across the Black Mountains. Within 36 hours. With 20KG on your back.

Sounds fairly straightforward. What's the twist?

A 50KG stretcher.

In December.

And we're trying to break the Sandhurst record time.

The last Long Reach in February 2013 saw 41 Officer Cadets evacuated from the mountains due to the conditions. This time:

Just 8 of us. More weight. Less time.

C) The Virgin London Marathon 2014

I will be running the 2014 VLM with weight - 25KG. The aim is to try get in with a time better than 6hrs. We're in the process of confirming numbers for this. But it is happening and we'll be signing up as a soon as registration opens. If you want to come along (for safety, serving members of the Armed Forces ONLY will be running with the weight) please get in touch and we'll organise the application process from there. Don't forget there are 2 ways to apply - through the general ballot, or via your chosen charity. The Marathon will be run for  Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, The Royal Marsden, The ABF, BLESMA & Action on Addiction.

So...... If you want to get involved then get in touch on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/435272123223109/, Twitter: https://twitter.com/DonnellyOx and email: ox.donnelly@cantab.net

Twitter and FB will be the best ways of getting up-to-date info on all the challenges until the web page (see below) is up and running.

The website is up and running!!! http://oxdonnelly.wix.com/thefcc

Many thanks to one and all I would be most greatful if you helped me raise even £1000.

Yours as ever,

Tavi

PS I'll have v little to no time to prep for this as I will be at Sandhurst (for those who hadn't twigged) and will be taking up 2 of my 3 weeks of hols for this. So GET INVOLVED and give me a hand. Thanks x
