Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving Page.
We're hoping to raise money for a charity called Tackle Africa (tackleafrica.org). Tackle Africa works to educate young people in sub-Saharan Africa about HIV and AIDS. Sub-Saharan Africa is the part of the world most affected by HIV and AIDS and young people are one of the groups most at risk of infection.
We're hoping to raise money by taking part in what has tentatively been called a 'Football Marathon'. This event is taking place on Saturday, 16th July 2011, on Clapham Common and will involve playing football for 12 hours or so.
Early hopes that the event would involve eating the chocolate bar formerly known as snickers have sadly been dashed.
Thankfully, we will be given a few breaks which will hopefully reduce the risks of any one or all of us keeling over.
Obviously we’ve all been involved in extensive and intensive training programmes and will undoubtedly give the opposition hell for the entire 12 hours. Alternatively, we will be left with no choice but to form a defensive wall in front of the goal and play for penalties.
All in all, we’re putting our bodies on the line for a great cause, and we’d really appreciate any sponsorship money you could spare.
