Great North Dog Walk · 10 June 2012

Oldies Club is a dog rescue charity which is run by volunteers and helps dogs aged 7+. It often takes in dogs that have been neglected, resulting in large vet bills. Oldies Club places dogs in foster homes, where they are assessed and receive any veterinary treatment required before being rehomed.

Story

This is the 4th year that I will be completing the Great North Dog Walk (www.cooksondogwalk.co.uk) on 10 June 2012. Joining me will be my youngest Oldie, Silk who is almost 10yrs old, possibly my 14yr cross collie Pixie who unfortunately has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but is fine at the moment (she was fostered by me on behalf of Oldies Club and then I adopted her) and joining us will be my current foster Lotti, a lovely, lively 11 year old. The walk holds the Guinness Book of Records for being the world's largest dog walk and I am completing it to raise much needed funds for Oldies Club www.oldies.org.uk - a fantastic dog charity who foster and re-home unwanted/homeless dogs over 7yrs old. Every dog who comes into Oldies care is vet checked and given any treatment they need - this year, a staggering £65,000 has been spent in vet treatment for our Oldies. All of the money raised for Oldies Club goes towards the vet bills, which can be extremely high in some cases. Some dogs remain in Oldies Club care for the remainder of their days - these are dogs who will not be re-homed due to illness and Oldies Club continue to pay for whatever vet treatment they need for the rest of their lives.

We desperately need help so that we can keep on rescuing these poor old dogs, who may otherwise be put to sleep or end up in kennels for the rest of their days.

Please give whatever you can to help these lovely dogs "because they are worth it", and as the owner of two Oldies and a foster carer for a third one I can say that in all honesty.

Do something fantastic today for a fantastic charity. Without YOUR help Oldies Club cannot help dogs, that through no fault of their own - quite often just because they are old, find themselves without a home. You can help save their lives.

Thank you for helping me to help Oldies Club - I am always grateful for every pound that people donate o:).
