Story
UPDATE - Well everyone I did it. A little injurred but nothing that won't heal in time for #AITODXB - it was amazing and I am so proud to have been part of the Just a Drop campaign.
You can still sponsor me so feel free..better start dreaming up next year's event now, maybe we can some other 'Chairman' involved??
I am so grateful to everyone who has sponsored me with their hard earned cash. All I did was jump out of a plane, albeit with a little assistance, oh well ok, I had to be physically forced out the door! The hard work is undertaken by Just a Drop and I would like to thank Fiona and Kelly and the whole team, you are a great inspiration and undertake some amazing work.
Now, on with the show, its #AITODXB in 2 days!!
-----------
Where: Dubai
When: Tuesday 11th June 2012 (4 days before our overseas conference!)
I am convinced my Mum thought I was a little bit crazy. And so now I suppose I get to prove it.
I am very lucky to have travelled to some amazing places all over the world, most often using an aeroplane to get there. One would think it quite apt therefore for me to decide to jump out of one to raise money for the AITO Agents Just a Drop campaign, to provide running water to 6,000 Ugandan villagers.
I on the other hand am feeling deep regret to agreeing to this activity, the very thought fills me with dread. I have been told however it is a Chairman's duty, not sure they explained that one too me when I signed up to the role.
And so, I am going to put on my brave face, and drop from far too many feet high above the City of Dubai just 4 days before our annual overseas conference!
You better be watching Mum!
I appreciate there are so many friends, family and colleagues undertaking charity challenges, and so we would appreciate anything you can give, however small it may be, dont be embarrassed now! You can always give it to me personally and I will sneak it into the offline donation ;) !!
Thanks for your support, here is some info on where the money will go.
Oh and I thought I should mention, I will be funding the skydive 100% myself, and so all money donated will be going to the AITO Agents Just a Drop Campaign.
About the Mukongoro project in Uganda
3 bore holes need to be drilled so that children and their parents won't have to walk six miles in both directions to get their water. The bore holes will allow all the nearby villagers to drink cool, sweet, clean water whenver they want. Just like we do.
Kelly Railton, Head of Fundraising at Just a Drop, said: “Child mortality is extremely high in this area, with 20 child deaths reported every month due simply to dirty water. Women are also walking 6 km every day to collect water, often from muddy dugouts or polluted water sources, and the carrying of heavy loads has affected their health. AITO Agents’ fundraising campaign will dramatically improve this situation, allowing for the installation of a clean water source and the engagement of the community to ensure ongoing maintenance and the sustainability of the programme.”
