Story

[English here, Español abajo]

On Sunday November 10th, I ran my first marathon- a mountain marathon- in the hills of the Montseny, near Barcelona, over a distance of 42 kilometres with a total climb & descent of 5400m. You can see the route hereAfter 2 months of training, it took me 7 hours and 7 minutes to finish. It was an amazing experience- the last few kilometres were tricky, but I really enjoyed it (no joke!) I ran to raise money for the projects I worked on in Latin America with the NGO Concern America.

If you'd like to support the projects, you can make a donation here, and help me reach my target by this Xmas!

The funds are going towards renewable energy and water projects in Mexico, Colombia and Guatemala. These are projects I know well and they are really worth supporting. The focus is on training people to build their own water systems, fuel-efficient cooking stoves, and off-grid solar systems for powering rural health posts. You can see a copy of my last report on the projects here.

- £ 20 pays for a tap that supplies clean water to a family for 2/3 years.

- £ 50 pays for low-energy DC light bulbs for an off grid solar system.

- £ 100 pays for a fuel efficient cooking stove for 1 family for the next 10 years.

- £ 250 pays for clean water supply for 1 family for the next 15 years.

- £ 500 pays for the solar panels that bring clean power to a rural health post.

Thanks to all of you who've supported up to now, whether morally or financially!

In solidarity, Oli.
