In 2009 I visited the charity REACH, in Rwanda. REACH look to reconcile Hutus and Tutsis through sport, music and drama after the genocide of 1994 in which a reported 800,000 people were murdered, (yes that number is correct), in only 100 days. The work this charity is doing is truly amazing.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: Arial; color: #60514a; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">I previously helped to fundraise and support the opening of a football pitch (you can see the photos above.) I also played a memorable match against the local team &ndash; the only thing I have forgotten is the slightly embarrassing score! REACH now hope to build a full spectator stand for the pitch. &nbsp;The pitch has become a hub for the community and brings &nbsp;much joy to many people. Football can't change what happened in 1994, but it can act as the catalyst for dispelling the ethnic tensions forever and helping everyone to come together as "Rwandans"</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: Arial; color: #60514a; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Every penny I can raise goes towards helping to put a seat in the stand and cheers in the air.
