Sitting in sunny Dubai watching the Rugby 7s with a cold beer in my hand was the last place I expected to be asked to cycle from London to Fishguard, (Google Maps indicates this puts me in Wales).  My bravado, probably bolstered by that beer, led me to say “Sure”; especially as the guy asking had the reputation for being a very persuasive man on the rugby pitch.  It turns out Lawrence Dallaglio is just as persuasive and inspirational off it.

A few weeks later I have found out that Twickenham to Fishguard is a little further than my commute across London and the UK weather has decided that global warming isn't going to take hold just yet. In short, leaving training to the last minute might not have been the best idea! Saddle sores and frozen limbs aside, Lawrence’s Cycle Slam is in aid of many good causes which I know will keep me going throughout the trip. Anything you can spare would be really appreciated.  Please remember to add Gift Aid so that our tax money isn’t just spent on furnishing floating duck houses.

The Dallaglio Cycle Slam is aiming to raise at least a million pounds for charity, with the proceeds split equally between Sport Relief and the Dallaglio Foundation. The Dallaglio Foundation currently supports Cancer Research UK, Help for Heroes, the RPA Benevolent Fund, Leukaemia Research and DebRA.
