Ian Meek Lets Cure Brain Tumours - Bristol to Leeds 220 miles 2013 · 28 March 2013

At YBTC, we walk beside anyone impacted by a brain tumour diagnosis through every step of their journey. Our local support brings comfort, care, and hope to families across Yorkshire- while our local research and investment in 'pump priming' brings us closer to kinder treatments and a cure.

Story

This year as well as cycling in memory of my dear friend Ian Meek and continuing to raise funds for the Ian Meek Studentship, we will be cycling for two of my colleagues, Karon O'Callaghan (Field Sales Manager DWH Bristol) & Tim McDermott (Regional Buyer Barratt Homes Leeds) who's children, both called Oliver, have been affected by this terrible disease.

Oliver O'Callaghan was diagnosed with a CPP Brain tumour in 2009 following the effects of obstructive hydrocephalus. Following successful resection of the tumour and relief of the hydrocephalus by a shunt.

Oliver now enjoys a normal lifestyle of a 11-year old boy. This year he went skiing for the first time and plays in the scrum for a local rugby team.

He has an annual MRI scan at the Frenchay Barbara Russell children's ward to ensure that there is no reoccurence of the tumour.

The Rides:

18th May 2013 - Wetherby to Scarborough 65 miles

13th/14th July 2013 - Bristol to Leeds 220 miles

25th August 2013 - Coast to Coast  160 miles

The Team :

Robert Berry, Adrian Wait, Terry O'Callaghan
