My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I ran the Brighton marathon on 15th April 2012 for the Dispensaire Francais.
This was the 4th marathon that I have run for charity. I am delighted to say that I achieved my personal best time for the Dispensaire. My previous times are 3hrs37 (London), 3hrs34 (New York) and 3hrs28 (Paris). I just ran a 3h27 marathon despite a ruptured ear drum from otitis media, a hot day with lots of wind and a really hilly course. Please consider giving generously!
Having worked at the Dispensaire myself as a doctor I know that for many patients it is their only chance of getting appropriate treatment when they are at their most vulnerable and at their time of greatest need. These patients are often far from home and have financial troubles, many have real difficulties in understanding English, and they need our help. All donations will go directly to this registered Charity. All the doctors (GPs and specialists) and allied health professionals at the Dispensaire give all their hard work for free.

Je m apprête à participer au marathon de Brighton, le 15 avril 2012, que j'aurai l honneur de courir pour le Dispensaire français.
Ayant moi même travaillé pour le Dispensaire en qualité de médecin, je sais que pour beaucoup de patients, c'est une chance unique de bénéficier de traitements efficients dans des moments de grande vulnérabilité. Ces patients sont loin de chez eux, ont souvent des difficultés financières et ne maîtrisent pour certains, que mal la langue anglaise. C'est pourquoi ils ont besoin de nous. Tous les dons iront directement au Dispensaire. Tous les médecins (généralistes et spécialistes) ainsi que les professions de santé associées donnent leur temps bénévolement au dispensaire.

Hello all, I am delighted to say that I beat my personal best getting a finish time of 3h27. I was 591st out of over 17,000 runners. Many thanks for your support. I really appreciate it. Olivier

The dispensaire francais provides medical services to french and french-speaking patients who, for various reasons such as an inability to speak english or a lack of understanding of the NHS, have difficulty in accessing NHS services. The doctors and health professionals give their time and expertise for free allowing the patients to be treated at minimal cost.
