Lloyds Banking Group - Coast to Coast Cycle · 8 November 2013 to 19 November 2013 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Im a typical girl... i enjoy shopping, going out for dinner, spa days and holidays.  I travel... a lot. I enjoy the gym and like to keep active. I love to help others. Therefore, what I am about to partake in makes total sense. Or maybe not!!

Sometimes you gotta take yourself out of your comfort zone and add a little bit more experience to your life. This is where the Coast to Coast challenge comes into play. In November, I will be joinging 33 of my Lloyds Banking Group colleagues and cycling Coast to Coast across Costa Rica. Thinking of the sun, the beaches, the exercise, the culture... sounds perfect! However, thats all irrelevant when it comes to the real reason behind the cycle.

We are cycling for Alzheimer's Society, LBG charity of the year 2013. We want to help. We want to support. We want to make a difference. As a team we are raising £140,000 to make an enormous difference to people living with dementia and those who care for them. Our contribution will mean 1,100 family carers will have the tools they need to make sure their loved ones get what they need.

I am not a regular cycler -  being honest the furthest I cycle is a couple of kilometres on a static bike in the gym. However, that won't stop me. I consider myself fit and very active so the training aspect of the trip should be as enjoyable as the trip itself.

Its probably time to ditch the stabilisers.......
