We support people to help rebuild lives after stroke.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In July 2014 my 46 year old husband, Paul Sharp, suffered a stroke.  He suffered from high blood pressure which did not seem of great concern to us but it caused him to have a bleed on his brain. It turned out world upside down. We had only been married for 3 months and all of a sudden had lost all use of his left side and could not do simple things such as wash and dress himself. After about a month he was allowed to leave hospital but still required a wheelchair to get about for a few weeks, and he had physiotherapy twice a day.

Paul has recovered well but still suffers with pain and loss of sensation in his left side, as well as a loss of strength and balance.

I have decided to fund raise for the Stroke association as they spoke with Paul whilst he was in hospital and provided him with information, support and reassurance. I also want to raise awareness of strokes and that they don't just happen to elderly people. A simple course of blood pressure medication may have prevented my husbands stroke and the subsequent problems we have both had to face.
