Story

Event organisers: Jessica MacIsaac, Fares Hatoum, and Abubakr Patel

Optoms Cycling for Sight is a 10-day long World Sight Day Challenge which will take cyclists from Glasgow to Cardiff between September 13th and 23rd, linking all UK optometry departments.

The World Sight Day Challenge is a global fundraising campaign coordinated by Optometry Giving Sight and jointly implemented with Vision Aid Overseas in the UK. It is designed to raise funds for projects that provide vision care, local training and infrastructure support for people who are blind or vision impaired due to uncorrected refractive error – simply the need for an eye exam and a pair of glasses.

Optoms Cycling for Sight aims to get all optometry students aware of charitable activities for causes relevant to their profession, and involved in a nationwide and hopefully annual event following the success of this initial bike ride. All funds will be donated to Optometry Giving Sight and Vision Aid Overseas.
